Jiuligou Scenic Spot mainly consists of unique landscapes with ancient Taoist culture. Its unique peaks and waterfalls, bleating deer and monkeys, cloud seas and wind blowing through the forests bring people back to the nature.

Jiyuan was called “Yuchuan” in ancient times. Jiuligou is the hometown of “Tea Immortal” Lu Tong, a poet in Tang Dynasty. It is said that Lu Tong used to boil the tea and wrote the poem in Jiuligou, and today historic relics such as Yuchuan Spring, Huadong Field and Lu Tong Tomb still exist in Jiuligou. His Seven-Bowl Tea Song is very famous and evolves to the Japanese chado. Now there are Yanshou Platform and Lu Tong Tea House.

Jiuligou is full of waterfalls, among which the most splendid ones are Jiulong and Shicao Waterfalls. In the high water period, several streams of Jiulong Waterfalls flow down from the steep cliff, create fogs and produce loud sounds. The clean streams of Shicao Waterfalls jump for seven levels in hundreds of meters of the stone valley and flush the riverbed to the shape of S.

In the end of the valley stand countless peaks. The stone shrines in the peaks of Jiuligou are quite splendid while the ancient Chantang Temple is quite exquisite, which is a model of Taoist building basing on natural conditions and keeps harmony with the nature. It is said to be the practice place of Liu Haichan, the founder of Taoism. The Heaven Spring on the top of the shrine flows throughout the year without break and pours vertically downwards. It is said that the legends of “A Toad Wishing to Eat Swan Meat” and “Liu Hai Playing with Golden Toads” take place here.

There are many historic relics in Jinlu Peak, which is called “Wudang Mountain in North China”. Its Eastern Queen Mother Cave, responding to the Queen Mother Cave in Tiantan Mountain, can be called the essence of stone buildings. Its stone walls, stone bricks, stone windows, stone doors and stone accessories are excellent and harmonious with the nature.

The Shuihong Pond is 1,460m above the sea level and forms a unique climate in the peak that the maximum temperature in summer is no higher than 28℃, people cannot get rid of tilt when sleeping and mosquito is nowhere to find in autumn, thus making it a quite ideal resort in summer. Even nowadays Shuihong Pond still preserves stone roads, stone buildings, stone grinders, stone rollers and unique traditions, which create an atmosphere of “the Land of Peach Blossoms”. In winter, here appears clean rime, and that is another fascinating landscape.Besides, other scenic spots like Yixian Cave, Xianguo Cave, Tianxian Bridge and the Natural Big Cave are also worth visiting.
