Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark: Create theParticular Propaganda Model, and Delivery the Positive Energy of Science Education

Since this year, Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark has taken an active role in scientific research and science education. The geoparkhas carried out a series of activities to popularize scientific knowledge in succession, which forms the unique propaganda model of Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark.

Upgrade the geopark infrastructure, and create a strong atmosphere of science popularization.

Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark will meet the third revalidation in2016. For the better evaluation work and according to the six opinions from the feedback of the UNESCO experts in 2012, the geopark has enacted the rectification construction plan of Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark (2013-2016 ) with the project unit after the communication with the related experts. The points of the rectification design are geopark geosciences routes, geological museum and the science education information center, which will promote the geopark infrastructure construction. At the same time, the geopark invited Zhang Zhonghui, a judge of China national geopark, to inspect the three main science education routes in Wangwushan, Xiaogoubei and The Yellow River Three Gorges and improve them.

In addition, we proof the English interpretive panels and tips, and add some science interpretive panels to create a favorable scientific atmosphere.

Organize the unique science activities, and transfer the positive energy.

We have organized the science education activities for five times relying on the holidays as the Earth Day, the Children’s Day and thesummer holiday. We also have provided more than 5000 pieces of promotional materials. On the Earth Day, April 22, we hold the activity of “The 10th Anniversary Tour Exhibition of China Global Geoparks” commissioned by the office of the Global Geoparks Network. We exhibited 32 boards for 31 China Global Geoparks to the public to show them their geological structures and geomorphic features, which will remind people of protecting the geological heritage; On the Children’sDay, we went to schools to send geosciences materials, held the geological knowledge lectures, and enhanced the propaganda of geosciences knowledge, which is aimed at encouraging the student to attend the geological activities; During the summer holidays, The 1st Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark summer camp opened .we organized about 100 students to attend the activities including “visit the geological museum with the interpreters”, “pick up the white trash- grooming the geological museum”, “geological knowledge contest”, and “follow me to martial arts”, which make the student know the special geological landform of the geopark, increase their geological knowledge, expand their horizons, anneal the will and comprehend the charm of nature.

Moreover, we call for the collection of photography works on the landscapes, viewing stones, geology geomorphology, geological structures, human sceneries and rare animals  within the scope of Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark, including Wangwu Mountain, Xiaogoubei, the Yellow River Three Gorges, Daimei Mountain, Longtan Valley.
