Wangwushan-Daimeishan Global Geopark Administration discovered a precious fossil relic of silicated wood in Jiyuan

On October 21, the staff of our administration discovered a new fossilized relic of silicified wood when they were conducting field geoconservation inspections.

The fossil relic of silicified wood are located in Caogou Village, Dayu Town, Jiyuan City, and are exposed in the hillside. The attitude of silicated wood is upright, cut through the stratum, the wood texture is very clear, the upper part of the fossil is seriously weathered and broken, and the broken pieces of silicated wood can be found in the surrounding area. The fossil was about 1.5m in height and 30cm in diameter. According to experts, it is considered that the attitude of silicated wood has special occurrence, well-preserved biological characteristics, and is very typical, with high protection value and research value. In view of the serious weathering and crushing of the silicated wood, it is in urgent need of protection.
