M'GOUN UNESCO Global Geopark

M'GOUN UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the middle of the high Atlas Mountains in central Morocco, about 100km away from Marrakech and 330km away from Casablanca. Its territory covers a large area of mid to high mountains. The geological history of this area is consistent with the geological evolution of the Central High Atlas, which can be traced back to the Triassic period 250 million years ago, and the main stage occurred in the Jurassic period about 180 million years ago.

In September 2023, a sister park was established with the Wangwushan-Daimeishan UNESCO World Geopark.
