Jidu Temple
Jidu Temple, also known as Jidu Beihai Temple, is located on Jidu Street in Jiyuan City. It was first built in the second year of the Sui Kaihuang era (582 AD) and was built by the imperial court to worship one of the "Four Sacrifices", the Jishui God.
Jidu Temple faces north and south, with an overall layout in the shape of "A" or "turtle", meaning "golden turtle exploring the sea"; The main buildings are arranged on three vertical axes, with Jidu Temple in the front, Beihai Temple in the back, Yuxiang Yuan in the east, and Tianqing Palace in the west, forming a pattern of Jidu as the main focus, Beihai as the extension, unity of heaven and man, and four Du worshipping together. It is a place where the imperial court worshipped the Water God throughout history; The total area is 86255 square meters, with 72 existing ancient buildings covering an area of over 100000 square meters. It is one of the largest existing ancient architectural complexes in Henan Province.
In 1996, Jidu Temple was announced by the State Council as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
