Wangwushan-Daimeishan World Geopark The re evaluation work was successfully completed
From June 28th to 30th, Dr. Song Yuan Dianxiao (Japan) and Professor Xu Ming (South Korea), experts in the UNESCO World Geopark Assessment, conducted a 3-day assessment tour at the Wangwu Mountain Daimei Mountain World Geopark. Through three stages of listening to reports, conducting on-site inspections, and providing feedback, we will gain a deeper understanding of the park's geological resource protection, scientific research, popular science education, and sustainable development.
At the report meeting, the attending experts watched the video of the re evaluation report of the geological park on site, listened to the progress report of the geological park's work from 2017 to 2023, and asked on-site questions.
During the on-site investigation stage, the expert group conducted on-site inspections at Xiaogou Background Area, Wangwu Mountain Scenic Area, Yugong School, Wangwu Mountain Geological Museum, and other places. They also conducted detailed observations on the protection status of geological relics, the completeness of the identification system, the construction of science popularization facilities, the development of geological science popularization education, and typical geological relics in the park (collision marks of the South and North China Craton plates, and fossil sites of mammalian reptiles).
During the feedback stage, the evaluation experts gave full recognition to the protection and management of the Wangwushan-Daimeishan World Geopark. At the same time, the experts also provided preliminary opinions on the issues discovered during the inspection. The specific opinions of the evaluation experts will be submitted to UNESCO.
